Mac Walcott

I have been a practicing architect in Fairhope for the last 40 years. My experience in the design profession and construction industry includes roles as diverse as principal architect, contractor, construction manager, developer, plumber, hobby farmer, and house painter.

My wife, Gina, and I founded our architectural firm from our home at Little House Farms on the Fish river in 1986. That firm grew to become Walcott Adams Verneuille Architects (wavarchitects.com). Our firm, now with 20 members, has completed over 900 projects, won numerous design awards, and has been published extensively in regional and national publications.

I maintain a diverse Jeffersonian interest in all things agrarian, including bees, donkeys, pigs, cows, sustainable agriculture, wetlands preservation, and the proper evolution of our rural heritage. I am an active essayist and have written numerous articles for local newspapers.

I wrote, edited and published the “Small Farm Journal” for several years, and my first published work of fiction, “Shadow and Solomon” was anthologized in Stories from the Blue Moon Café, Volume IV. My daughter and I operate Little House Publishing, and have published two books, “My Dinner with Lawrence” and “Frank Gehry and Robert Tannen; Art Architecture, and Ideas”.
